Dereliction and Demolition

Having seen some demolition work whilst driving down Talbot Street in Nottingham, I decided to park up and take a closer look.

Demolition work can be interesting to photograph. There is a certain morbid fascination looking at internal features of the building being exposed to the outside elements and a sense of something that was fully functional in its time now being unceremoniously ripped apart - even if it was only office accommodation.

With a little research I understand that the space left behind will be redeveloped into student accommodation for Nottingham Trent University. I was also intrigued by a derelict building further up the road. I couldn't find out too much about the building. It may have originally hosted livery stables when built in 1902 but was also Cantonese restaurant at the point of its closure in the late 1990s. This would probably explain the external metal vent which I used in a number of the my images of this building.

Overall, I thought that the images of dereliction and demolition worked better with a black and white conversion. These are the results:
