Holcombe Beach

I usually don’t include sketches in this blog because they’re often brief, unfinished, and don’t always convey anything specific. However they’re a useful tool when working outdoors where creating a finished piece is much harder. Sketching relieves pressure and allows time to simply practice putting the brush on the paper.

These are a selection of sketches from an hour spent on the sea wall above Holcombe Beach just before it got dark. Later I used these, along with a few photographs, to finish another more complete sketch at home.
