High Peak Junction

An outdoor watercolour from a few weeks ago at the High Peak Junction on the Cromford canal. The changing light was a challenge, particularly when I had set the shadows early as the sun broke through the clouds, highlighting the pumping house. On reflection, the scene chosen was ambitious for an outdoor painting and a few changes/corrections were required at home. I have a plan to return to this venue later in the year, perhaps with autumn colours…
