Outdoor Oils

I would normally use watercolour or perhaps gouache for outdoor painting, so working in oils at Patchings Art Centre’s NGS painting day was a very different experience.

The set up, of course, is one of the differences, lots of mess and a wet board to transport. I also found judging colour and tone much harder in the changing light.

Overall though it was enjoyable and like all outdoor sessions, the activity was more important than the outcome!
