Rain, Holcombe Head

Rain has been a feature of the weather so far this year and I wanted to capture this in a painting. I managed some of this in my last blog post using watercolour but then used oils with the purpose of painting the air/rain in between me and Holcombe Head as the principle subject (if that makes sense!). The result was different to anything I have painted before and let’s say the viewer feedback has been mixed! The directional brush strokes which are most commented upon are more evident in the photo of the painting than they are with a standard viewing distance. I quite like the outcome, so I am happy to post here - good or bad!
