Shaldon

Two experimental views of Shaldon were completed in Artrage using the trace functionality. This automatically selects colours from an underlying photo so it’s more accurately described as photo-art than digital painting. However the final results are heavily influenced by the brushes chosen. The first layer used a large roller brush creating an abstract underpainting. The second layer employed a medium and small-sized brush to introduce selected details while maintaining a loose abstract feel. In this way, the digital medium offers a fantastic platform for experimenting with various approaches and generating ideas that could translate into traditional paintings.
