Southwell Trail

The Southwell trail is a local nature reserve within walking distance from home. It was previously a railway line that connected Rolleston (via Southwell) to Mansfield between 1871 and 1968 although passenger trains stopped in the 1920s. The trail was then purchased by the County Council in the 1970s and is now a reserve used by walkers and cyclists.
Over the years I have often walked along the trail with a compact camera recording the different seasonal changes and basically anything that catches my eye. It has turned into one of my photographic themes although I don't worry too much about the quality of the output - it is more about the walk and the enjoyment of taking a few photographs.
Spring time is great along the trail as it brings fresh colours and the evenings are longer so there is more opportunity to get out after work.
